about
The song is about the songwriter’s perception, in which sounds play an important role in a synesthetic way. Surrounding objects, events in life, daily routines, people – all induce specific timbres or melodies in the author’s imagination. The lyrics are simple in structure and list some of these metaphorical associations. Due to this peculiarity of perception the author cannot live without playing and creating music. Lack of musical activity makes the life empty, and quickly leads to depression.
lyrics
Lyrics:
The summer sounds like tiny guitar amps
The street lights sound like muffled brass and strings
Depression sounds like someone came and turned the volume down
And you sound like this
The snowflakes sound like beat up plastic square waves
The drizzle sounds like long lost memories
My daily journeys sound like broken pianos on the radio
Obsessions sound like blades and scissors
And you sound like this
